SAP MDM, now officially called SAP NetWeaver MDM, is currently on its second released version of MDM software. The module is built on top of SAP XI Netweaver which is used to consolidate data from multiple SAP remote systems.
SAP MDM follows the consolidated model of collecting master data from several systems and to store the details in a central business partner repository. One thing that SAP MDM does like no other module or tool is data cleansing. SAP MDM gives you the ability to modify huge number of data records. For example deletion of duplicate entries or merging of duplicate entries by defining rules.

Compared to other modules in the SAP ERP, SAP MDM is a growing and relatively new module. SAP MDM jobs are expected to continue to increase over the next few years as it is crucial to SAP’s vision of Enterprise SOA (eSOA).
