SAP AG and Sybase have achieved their joint aim to reach one billion people with new software.
The release of the Next-Generation Sybase Unwired Platform and an improved version of its software development kit (SDK) are set to help businesses respond to real-time business logistics and decision making.
Sybase's platform can now interact with a series of new mobile apps aimed at mobilising business data and processes.
Executive vice president and chief marketing officer at Sybase Dr Raj Nathan claimed: "The pervasiveness of mobility and impact on consumers to businesses make it one of the most profound transformations in IT history, and it is a key driver for enabling SAP and Sybase to reach one billion people by 2015."
SAP and Sybase also revealed plans to allow the SAP enterprise resource planning (ERP) application to run on the Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE).
As the first SAP Business Suite application to be used on this platform, it will allow users to gain instant access to business information, significantly increasing efficiency.
