SAP to coach England at next World Cup?

Following on from the recent release of their very own Facebook application (see our blog piece here) SAP has taken a further step into the mainstream by releasing the 2010 Football Experience – all in the midst of the World Cup in South Africa.

Whilst it appears to have come too late for Capello, Domenech and Lippi this tool gives users access to an impressive array of stats, all through the use of some of SAP’s business intelligence solutions.

Have you ever wondered which part of the pitch Brazil scored most of their goals from at the 1970 World Cup?

Well, even if you didn’t before a quick registration and use of this tool will bring out the inner football geek in all of us.

The tool even follows live games, including a live commentary and up-to-the minute analysis of a team’s performance – will you be able to identify the trends and patterns of play that will make each team successful?

From an SAP perspective this tool showcases amongst other things BI tools developed with SAP BusinessObjects Explorer and SAP Crystal Dashboard Design.  The inclusion of 50 years worth of data shows that this was more than just fun and games for SAP and was aimed at broadcasting the impressive capabilities of the SAP business intelligence solutions.

Once again SAP seems to be extending its reach from the IT world into mainstream society.  Is this a sign that SAP is trying to establish itself in the wider domain of the general public or is this just an entertaining tool aimed at SAP enthusiasts?

If we Consider the gridiron as the ( Enterprise ) and the Players as the (Resources) then there is no better way for (Planning) them like SAP , but be careful with the Teams using Oracle .. :-)
