10 SAP blogs you must read!
The end of the year is almost upon us and having already given you my opinion on which SAP game-changers it's worth keeping an eye out for on Twitter, bloggers can be another important way to stay up to date on the latest developments. If you want to read some expert opinions or join a SAP user debate then these ten bloggers offer a little more depth than your average Tweeter.
Jon ERP
Jon Reed is an independent analyst and SAP mentor and has been publishing content and advice for over 15 years. Jon is easily an expert in SAP career advice, talent management and social media activity, which you can see instantly from the glowing reader reviews littered across his blog.More recently Jon has branched out into podcasts, which are great for staying up to date while you're on the move.
Pixelbase
Pixelbase is a personal blog from Michael Koch, SAP mentor and independent SAP consultant and is filled with SAP news and development consulting debate. Koch writes using an engaging and informal tone and demonstrates his up-to-the-minute knowledge with regular references to ongoing Twitter debates. This includes a conversation he had with a follower about Advanced Business Application Programming code, providing you with plenty of insight to use in the workplace.
Feeding the Ecosystem
Finally, the Feeding the Ecosystem blog by Tobias Ortwein, senior vice president of Munich-based PAC, offers a devoted forum for the Application Services market. It features a range of leading industry voices from around the world and gives you explanations of the latest SAP headlines and products
Bob Evans
Bob Evans writes for SAP's Innovation Business blog and seeks to explore case studies of where different businesses are striving to meet the expectations of their customers through SAP. Evans aims to show how new SAP solutions could help drive business growth, while highlighting positive and sometimes even negative examples. Although a little quiet of late, I still enjoyed re-reading the piece on the iPad unleashing creative destruction on the PC industry.
SAP AFS
SAP AFS is a regularly updated blog containing specialist information about – yes, you guessed it - Apparel and Footwear solutions. While a relatively niche area, the anonymous SAP blogger provides interesting glimpses into key industry developments with a distinctly Asian flavour.
SAP Bloggers corner
SAP bloggers corner is the official SAP Social Media Relations blog and is designed to provide you with a dynamic way to interact with influencers and external bloggers, while also attracting new voices and insights. It's supposed to be more informal than other SAP corporate blogs but is still run by SAP and contains press releases and links to other corporate content.
MSDN - SAP Apps on SQL Server
This blog is written by Microsoft experts who have been using SAP and SQL Server technology for more than a decade. These techies are more than familiar with the ins and outs of implementation and installation of SAP and regularly respond to comments with handy tips on ensuring that these processes run smoothly.
Timo Elliot
Timo Elliot, while being a prolific Tweeter, also owns one of the most diverse and extensive SAP blogs around. The 20-year SAP BusinessObjects veteran clearly dedicates a lot of time to his site and offers regular blogs, video presentations, product explanations and free downloadable tools.
SAP Global IT Blog
SAP AG's Global IT blog is run by SAP itself and gives you a glimpse into the inner workings of SAP and its elaborate thought process. It also covers topics about key trends, future thinking and hosts the opinions of a number of leading international experts from around the company.
Infosys SAP Blog
The blog for Infosys SAP is a real value add corporate site and a few people will give me some stick for picking it but, before you do, take a quick read. The team over at Infosys have been blogging about SAP since late 2008 and they have covered a lot of topics!
You may have noticed I stayed away from the SDN blogs, sometimes I think there is just to much to take in but if you're yet to dip your toes in the water please take a moment to have a look.
Finally I just like to take a moment to thank all the readers that have commented and shared via Social Media in 2011. I'll be back in 2012 and its looks certain to be an exciting year (HANA, NetBase or SuccessFactors anyone?). I wish you all a fantastic holiday period and best wishes for 2012
Best regards,
Owain
